St Helen’s Church

Our local church is St Helen’s on Church Lane, Selston which we have a close working relationship with.

The church is very old, dating back to the 1100s, but it now has a new extension which is great for hosting community groups and activities.

The vicar Rev. Lee Gordon can be seen in school quite often and she leads a weekly collective worship. The whole school comes to church for special services or “Time Travelling Days” several times a year – especially at Harvest, Christmas and Easter, and it’s exciting to see the church and school communities coming together!

They are always available for you if you are thinking about weddings, baptism or you have to plan a funeral…or if you ever need a confidential chat to someone with time to listen.

Rev. Lee  is also the chair of the school governors.

Christian Values For Curriculum

The Crackpot Company

The Crackpot Company is a primary school assembly team made up of Christian volunteers who visit local primary schools to deliver bible stories in an exciting and engaging way.

We are lucky enough to be able to invite The Crackpot Company to Selston twice every year.

Saints Alive

Saints Alive is a group of local Christian volunteers who come into our school every half term to lead us in whole-school worship. As part of this worship, the children are able to express their spirituality through songs and activities led by the Saints Alive team.

The Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham

As a church school we belong to the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham and work closely with diocesan colleagues.

We were pleased to welcome Bishop Tony for lunch on Monday, 16th December 2019.  He joined our Collective Worship and presented copies of his book, ‘Chips’, to all our children.
